India looking to promote ethanol production from sugar to reduce glut

In India, Cogencis news agency reports that the government is looking to not only ask oil marketing companies to specifically buy ethanol produced from sugar rather than molasses or sugarcane juice in an effort to eat down huge sugar stocks weighing on the market, but a separate floor price for the sugar-based ethanol will likely also be created. Different prices currently exist for ethanol depending on its feedstock. The push would only be during a limited time, however, until sugar stocks were at a more manageable level.
