South Dakota ethanol plants looking at medium-term feedstock shortage

In South Dakota, AgWeb reports that with the state expecting the lowest corn crop in the Midwest this year, a shortage of feedstock for ethanol plants would start becoming an issue in November 2020. Already Nu Gen is bringing in corn from 100 miles away in the western part of the state. Having to bring in corn from North Dakota, for example, wouldn’t made economic sense for most ethanol plants in the area, the company said.
