New Malaysian palm oil industrial cluster port to make biodiesel production cheaper

August 29, 2019 |

In Malaysia, the New Straits Times newspaper reports that the new palm oil industrial cluster port in Lahad Datu has successfully offloaded its first 1,500 metric ton shipment of methanol for a nearby biodiesel producer. Genting Group, who produces 300,000 tons of biodiesel annually in the area nearby says that bringing in methanol by ship rather than by truck as it has done previously is cheaper and more efficient. The port was developed by the Sabah state government.
