China seen not likely to import Brazilian ethanol, dashing hopes

In Brazil, Reuters reports that despite a trade mission to China recently, including visiting COFCO who owns four Brazilian sugar mills, the country isn’t likely to see a large boost in Chinese ethanol demand last year. One key reason is that a COFCO official said China wasn’t likely to implement the E10 blending mandate as expected last year. He said that rather than look to imports to achieve E10, it would likely wind down its consumption to reach domestic production.
