Petroleum industry concerned by Trump’s biofuel policy shift

In Washington, Platts reports that the American Petroleum Institute seriously concerned about the White House’s shift in approach towards biofuels, especially by the possibility of increasing the biofuel mandate for 2020 ethanol and 2021 biodiesel. The API’s VP told Platts that the decision was arbitrary and rushed to boost biofuels blending, support more E85 and reduce hardship waivers for small refineries. The oil industry has been supportive of the Trump Administration’s easier treatment of its refineries but opposes the gestures made of late to appease upset farmers and the ethanol industry.
