Netherlands may drop double counting for UCO depending on fraud investigation results

In Belgium, Euractiv reports that allegations of unsustainable palm oil being used for biodiesel but calling it used cooking oil have seen both the UK and the Netherlands launch investigations to get to the bottom of the controversy. If it ends up being true, the Netherlands says it could force the end of double counting of used cooking oil-based biodiesel for renewable energy blending mandates in transport under the Renewable Energy Directive II. The investigation in the Netherlands is going on alongside a fraud investigation into a Dutch biofuel company.
