Second Siouxland Ethanol plant shuttered as post-SRE bloodbath continues

In Iowa, the Des Moines Register newspaper reports that a second Siouxland Ethanol plant has been shut on the back of demand destruction for ethanol resulting from the Environmental Protection Agency’s recent approval of 31 small refinery hardship waivers. The company’s board of directors specifically pointed the finger at the EPA and Trump Administration policy for forcing its hand to keep the facility shut after a two-week maintenance shutdown. The company has been losing about $1.5 million per month.
