Chesapeake Green Fuels’ biodiesel plant up for sale at auction

September 24, 2019 |

In Minnesota, Maas Companies of Rochester will auction Chesapeake Green Fuels’ 10 Million Gallon per year biodiesel plant. Maas Companies specializes in the liquidation of specialized and renewable assets for private companies, courts, banks and lenders nationwide. The surplus assets will be sold via a sealed bid auction; the deadline for offers is Wednesday, November 13 at 4 PM CDT.

The Chesapeake Green Fuels facility was originally built in 2006/2007 by Mid-Atlantic Biodiesel, with a capacity of 5 million gallons per year. The plant capacity was doubled in 2009 by Chesapeake with the addition of multi-feedstock pretreatment systems including bleaching filtration, glycerolysis and methyl ester distillation. Chesapeake’s plant assets are now surplus to their other ongoing businesses. Located in Delaware, the plant is strategically located near eastern markets, terminals and key distribution routes. The equipment will be selling as one package to remain on location or to be moved. The land is available via a long-term lease with Norfolk Southern Company that can be assumed or negotiated, and has a rail spur that services the site with high capacity loading and unloading.
