Malaysian minister laments underutilization of Sabah’s more than 61 million tons of biomass resources

In Malaysia, the Daily Express newspaper reports that Sabah’s biomass resources are seriously underutilized, with 60 million metric tons of oil palm waste and 1.4 million cubic meters of forestry waste produced annually that could instead be used to produce biomaterials. Use of waste biomass from oil palm is seen as a key tenet to achieving sustainability in the palm oil sector, according to a speech given on behalf of the trade and industry minister at a local biomass conference.
