#3 Stroodles: Noodle straw is better for earth than oodles of plastic

In the United Kingdom, a company called Stroodles is selling biodegradable straws made from pasta.

The straws, shaped like bucatini, have been modified so it can withstand cold liquids without becoming limp noodles.

“We want to inspire the world and show how easy it is to do good—with just one Stroodle at a time,” according to its website. “With Stroodles, you don’t have to change behaviors and compromise on your drinking experience.”

According to Inceptive Mind, one billion plastic straws are used annually and take 400 years to decompose.

A box of 12 Stroodles sells for just over $4, according to the online publication.
