China looking to boost ethanol imports from the US but questions arise about feasibility

In China, Bloomberg reports that the country plans to increase agricultural purchases from the US by as much as $50 billion per year, the capacity for which is doubted by some analysts, which includes dropping tariffs on US-origin ethanol to boost those imports. US ethanol exports reached as high as 200 million gallons annually in 2016 but tariffs set at 70% in 2018 closed that window and the US ethanol industry has been suffering ever since.
