Wheatland due tax refund after Nebraska Supreme Court slashes ethanol plant valuation

December 18, 2019 |

In Nebraska, local press reports that the state supreme court has sided with Wheatland Industries that its ethanol plant in Madrid was valued at just over $7 million in 2017 rather more than $16 million as valued by the Perkins County assessors. The company has already paid taxes paid on the higher valuation so will receive an $18,000 tax refund from the county and an unknown amount by the school board. Wheatland has already appealed the 2018 valuation which was similar to 2017’s.
