Indian oil marketing companies send more than 500 LOIs for compressed biogas

December 24, 2019 |

In India, Autocar Professional reports that mini-compressed biogas plants are about to take off following the issuance of more than 500 Letters of Intent by the three main oil marketing companies to entrepreneurs under the Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation that seeks to produce 15 million metric tons annually of compressed biogas by 2023. Total national CBG production is estimated at 62 million tons, the entirety of national gas demand. To promote investment in production, the government has offered 10-year off-take contracts at a fixed price of 64.5 cents but it was unclear from the article how much CBG would be purchased at that price.
