Circle K says Irish drivers will pay EUR28 million more for 10% biofuels

December 25, 2019 |

In Ireland, the UK’s Independent newspaper reports that Circle K in Ireland believes pushing biofuel blending to 10% in 2020 in line with the European Union’s Renewable Energy Directive will increase fuel prices at the pump for drivers by EUR28 million while cutting fuel efficiency by around 1.8%. The retailer has called on the Irish government to “accept liability” for potential breakdowns in vehicles built before 2008 that the company says aren’t compatible with E10.
