Changes to ethanol production process impacts DDGs qualities for animal feed

January 1, 2020 |

In Illinois, Brownfield Ag News reports that a University of Illinois researcher says that due to changes in corn processing for ethanol production, the composition of distiller’s dried grains has changed as well, having direct impacts on animal feed, such as cutting the fat content to between 5% and 8%, about half what it was before. On the upside, more amino acids are surviving the ethanol process as plants no longer overheat their products, which provides added value as animal feed.
