In India, the Hindu newspaper reports that the government has launched an online portal to help facilitate tracing the source of used cooking oil, Repurpose Used Cooking Oil (RUCO). The project was announced in August in an effort to help increase UCO collection for biodiesel production as well as to remove UCO from the food supply chain that can be hazardous to human health. Currently, 11 plants across the country have the capacity to produce UCO biodiesel, a number which is expected to increase significantly with the improvements made to supply chain stability such as RUCO.
