January 5, 2020 |

In the United Kingdom, The Chemical Engineer reports that the Department for Transport is funding for four new biofuel plants with two of them being funded from the £20 million ($26 million) Future Fuels for Flight and Freight Competition (F4C) and the other two funded from the £25m ($32 million) Advanced Biofuels Demonstration Competition.

Rika Biogas and KEW Projects are receiving £6.5 million and will produce biofuel for heavy goods vehicles with KEW also working on low carbon aviation fuel. Nova Pangaea Technologies, which will produce bio-ethanol from wood waste that can then be blended with petrol, and Advanced Biofuels Solutions (ABS) which expects to produce biomethane from municipal solid waste and forestry waste, are also getting funding from the UK government, according to The Chemical Engineer. Both of these projects are nearing their final stages of development.
