January 13, 2020 |

In Zimbabwe, the Herald newspaper reports that three companies are seeking licenses to produce sell ethanol on the domestic market in addition to GreenFuels and Tongaat Hulett who currently supply locally. Tongaat is looking to expand sugarcane production another 4,000 hectares, the national oil company is looking to grow 5,000 hectares to do the same and an unnamed Brazilian company is hoping to score 10,000 ha to grow cane, all for ethanol. The completion of Tugwi-Mukosi Dam has increased interest in boosting production in the area thanks to the steady source of water availability.
