#5 Perrier eyes bioplastic by 2025

In France, Perrier announced it will invest €1million ($1.1 million) in three startups to develop more sustainable packaging for its sparkling water.

Recipients include Biotic, Flexikeg, and PlastiSkul. Africa-based Biotic produces biobased and biodegradable plastic from agricultural waste and emphasizes job creation for women. Flexikeg and Perrier are collaborating to deliver beverages in reusable kegs, while PlastiSkul creates small factories to transform waste into usable materials.

The investments were announced at the recent Change Now Summit in Paris. Perrier hopes to launch new packaging solutions by 2025.

“We are committed to play our part in addressing the growing global plastic packaging issue,” Philippe Gallard, International Business Unit Director at Perrier, tells Forbes.
