Netherlands adamantly against EU ban on palm oil even when it’s sustainable

In the Netherlands, Indonesia’s Tempo newspaper reports that the Netherlands’ foreign affairs minister says his country supports sustainably produced palm oil and as such doesn’t stand behind the European Union’s blanket ban on palm oil for biofuels. Together with Indonesia, the Netherlands signed an MOU in September 2019 focused on the joint production of sustainable palm oil. The minister said he regrets that the WTO dispute launched by Indonesia in December 2019 against the European Union over palm oil is still going on.
