PG&E to use renewable diesel in mobile generators

March 23, 2020 |

In California, Utility Dive reports that Pacific Gas & Electric will use renewable diesel to power temporary mobile generators during public safety power shutoffs this year, at potentially more than the 20 power substations originally planned. The company is under increasing legal pressure as a result of actions that led to severe wildfires in 2018 and 2019. Stakeholders pushed back against the idea of the mobile generators except in the case of renewable diesel so the company is now looking at sourcing the fuel.
