RFA says at least 2B gallons of ethanol production to idled by week’s end

March 25, 2020 |

In Washington, Reuters reports that the Renewable Fuels Association says at least 2 billion gallons of ethanol production will be cut by the end of this week in response to record low ethanol prices and negative margins for producers. The head of the RFA said the organization is pushing for the government to support the industry financially, especially to ensure that workers aren’t put at risk as ethanol demand continues to diminish. Not appealing the recent 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling on small refinery exemptions was seen as one way of supporting the industry.
