Marquis Ethanol promises community it will stay open

March 31, 2020 |

In Illinois, with billions of gallons of ethanol production capacity shutting down in March and April in response to falling demand and negative crushing margins, the News Tribune newspaper reports that Marquis Energy has assured its local community that it has no intention of shutting down. The company’s CEO sent a letter to farmers and the community ensuring them that the company will support its employees and farmers who serve it, will continue to buy corn and continue to sell ethanol. He said it was the plant’s location on a river and its scale that makes it able to survive these challenging times.
