Thailand postpones E20 to September due to COVID-19

April 15, 2020 |

In Thailand, the National newspaper reports that in response to COVID-19 and the need to source as much ethanol for hand sanitizers as possible, the country is going to put on hold its ethanol blending program for the time being. The switch to E20 was meant to take place on June 1 but has been delayed until September 1, in hopes that the virus has been controlled by then and the demand for sanitizers will have reduced. In anticipation of the higher blending, ethanol producers have been boosting production runs to much higher capacity levels, producing an extra million liters per day.
