RFA says 71 ethanol plants idled while 60 running full tilt

April 21, 2020 |

In Minnesota, the Star Tribune newspaper reports that one-third of ethanol production across the country has already been idled, with four of 18 plants in Minnesota among that list, while others have scaled back production significantly. Al-Corn, for example, which is relying on hand sanitizer production and sales to stave off losses, is running at just 38% production capacity. The Renewable Fuel Association says 71 of the country’s 204 ethanol plants have shut down so far while just 60 are running at full capacity.
