German ethanol production and consumption fall but E10 gains market share

April 22, 2020 |

In Germany, Biofuels International reports that German Bioethanol Industry Association (BDBe) data shows that over the past 12 months, ethanol production fell by nearly 13% to 542,699 metric tons. Production was pressured by falling demand and “challenging market conditions” during the early part of last year. Overall ethanol blending fell slightly during the period to 1.16 million tons despite a 1% increase in gasoline consumption, but sales of E10 specifically increased to 13.7% of the gasoline market from 12.9% during the prior reporting period.
