Conab sees Brazilian ethanol production dropping 10% this season

In Brazil, Reuters reports that with the 50% drop in fuel demand and the related hit on ethanol demand that has cut the profitability of ethanol production, sugarcane mills are switching quickly to sugar production. The national supply agency Conab now estimates that sugar production will jump 18.5% this season with a corresponding fall of more than 10% for ethanol production to 32 billion liters. The cane crop itself is seen shrinking by nearly 2%.
