B20 implementation in Indonesian regions delayed while B30 to remain supported elsewhere

May 21, 2020 |

In Indonesia, the Bernama news agency reports that due to COVID-19, the government has delayed the implementation of B20 in both Sarawak and Sabah. Sarawak will now start mandating B20 in transportation from September 1 instead of April 1 while implementation in Sabah has been postponed to January 1 rather than August 1 this year as originally planned. The pandemic was in part responsible for the delay in required upgrades to 35 fuel depots that have kept the increased blending from going forward on time. Meanwhile B30 continues in other parts of the country and will be subsidized by an increase in palm oil export levy set to go into effect this month but the government hasn’t yet announced the exact date of the increase.
