Rare shipments of US-origin ethanol readying to land in China

May 21, 2020 |

In China, Reuters reports that 9,000 metric tons of US-origin ethanol is set to arrive in Nanjing on Friday which is seen as the first shipment following the phase one agreement of the new China-US trade deal agreed in January. The ethanol was loaded at the Sohar Port in Oman in April, although it wasn’t immediately clear why US-origin ethanol was sitting around in Oman, but a source told Reuters it was bought cheaply from a Saudi looking to offload supplies. Another shipment of US-origin ethanol is expected to land in Yizheng later this month.
