D6 RIN prices jump on expectations of few SRE approvals

June 3, 2020 |

In New York state, Platts reports that D6 RIN prices have jumped in value this week due to expectations that the Environmental Protection Agency will approve fewer small refinery hardship waivers due to close scrutiny into their approval processes. With RIN prices well over 50 cents each now, some market participants say that if as many SREs aren’t approved as before, RINs under 65 cents could be seen as cheap. The EPA is expected to release its draft 2021 blending mandate in the next few weeks.
