Indian oil companies seek nearly 1B liters of ethanol but likely to get 20%

June 3, 2020 |

In India, the Economic Times newspaper reports that oil marketing companies have opened a fresh tender to seek ethanol from sugar mills, this time 990 million liters for supply between July 1 and November 30. Uttar Pradesh is the only major sugar producing state still operating, with Maharashtra and Karnataka already closed, so UP mills are the only ones who can benefit from this latest tender. Even so, a food ministry official believes only 200 million liters will be supplied despite the requirement being nearly five times as much.
