Argentina’s ambassador to the US working hard to regain biodiesel market access

June 16, 2020 |

In Argentina, the national news agency télam says the Argentine ambassador in Washington is working with “all the legal and political tools available” to achieve “reasonable access to Argentine biodiesel in the United States”, after the high tariffs imposed in 2018, which meant a virtual blockade of the entering that market. Until 2017, the US was Argentina’s main biodiesel export market worth $1.2 billion annually. Argentina has a structural trade deficit of $3.9 billion over the past eight years so it is important for the country to try to balance it out, preferably with biodiesel exports.
