EPA administrator has no idea how many SRE applications have been filed

June 16, 2020 |

In Washington, Brownfield Ag News reports that the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency said in an interview that he doesn’t know how many requests for small refinery exemptions have been filed but believes that applications for “gap” SREs should be treated like any other request. The Department of Energy is currently reviewing the applications, he said, and then his agency will review them. Applications from 2019 haven’t yet been decided due to the 10th Circuit Appeals Court ruling earlier this year that rejected many of the previous approvals and the review process behind them.
