JBS begins construction on $34.4M biodiesel plant in Santa Catarina

In Brazil, Canal Rural reports JBS announced it began construction of its new biodiesel plant last week, located in the municipality of Mafra, Santa Catarina. The plant will be operated by JBS Biodiesel, a division of JBS Novos Negócios, with an investment of $34.4 million through Seara Alimentos. The new facility, which should take about a year to build, will produce 1 million liters of biodiesel from tallow per day. It is being built in order to supply future demand when the country shifts to B13 from the current B12.
