Fiberight Maine plant shut due to lack of funding

June 17, 2020 |

In Maine, local press reports that $14.7 million in loans from bondholders for the Fiberight plant fell through the end of May which forced the facility to shut down. Coastal Resources of Maine, the company that runs the facility, says it is behind on its bills and was relying on the funding to make ends meet, but instead it had to close its doors and the 115 member communities that supplied its waste for biofuel production have had to temporarily divert that MSW to landfill. The company has another two weeks or so to secure the funding before it is out of compliance with the communities.
