Rules for Brazilian sugar mills to sell ethanol directly could be ready for October

In Brazil, Reuters reports that following the National Energy Policy Council’s decision earlier this month to allow mills to sell their ethanol directly to retailers, the mines and energy minister said rules could be in place by October. Oil regulator ANP is developing the regulations that would facilitate the trade. The sugar industry has been seeking the policy change for several years in an effort to reduce the middle man and in turn make ethanol even more competitive with gasoline.
