European Commission looking to tighten up UCO monitoring

In Belgium, Euractiv reports that the European Commission is looking to tighten its monitoring of the used cooking oil supply chain for biodiesel production in light of ongoing controversies and investigations by some member states into supplies. The EC plans it tighten how it audits the voluntary certification schemes that are meant to ensure biofuels comply with the sustainability rules under the Renewable Energy Directive while it is also looking to create a Union database that will centralize data on biofuels consumption.
