Ethanol spot prices slip for first time in two months on fears of second COVID-19 wave

In Texas, ICIS reports that concerns about a second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic have forced spot ethanol prices lower after nearly two months of steady increases. Spot ethanol prices hit the floor in mid-April at the height of the pandemic and the associated shelter in place orders that kept people off the roads but as those begin to ease, demand returned to support prices. The more efficient producers were beginning to enjoy reasonable margins following several months of negative margins suffered by the most indebted producers.
