Construction of two hybrid LNG / LBG-powered biofuel tankers begins

In China, the first steel cut for Terntank two LNG / LBG-powered biofuel tankers with hybrid battery systems took place at the China Merchants Jinling shipyard on June 30.

This is a further development of Terntank AVIC series. The two vessels on 15,000 dwt have been ordered from CMJL, formerly AVIC Dingheng Shipbuilding, under the project name AVIC SERIES 2.0.

With the new vessels, the company has invested to come closer towards carbon-neutral operations and reduce the impact on the environment. In addition to dual fuel machinery that can be run on liquid biogas (LBG) or natural gas (LNG), the newbuilding’s get a hybrid battery system.
