July 6, 2020 |

In Oregon, Oregon Public Broadcasting reports that despite criticism from civil society organizations, the Department of Environmental Quality has renewed Global Energy’s Standard Air Contaminant Discharge Permit at its Clatskanie facility. The permit will allow the company to transport renewable diesel rather than the ethanol originally permitted, which could start to move by the end of the year. More than 2,200 public comments were lodged regarding the permit’s renewal. The daily equivalent of two train loads per day, about 1.8 billion gallons per year, of volatile organic liquid product are now allowed for transshipping.
