In Brazil, Reuters reports that UNICA data shows ethanol production fell 17% on the year to 1.95 billion during the second half of June as mills switch production to favor sugar where there are currently better margins. Less than 53% of the crush during the period went towards ethanol, a major shift compared to the same period last year when 63% of the cane went towards ethanol production. Ethanol sales are recovering following the initial drop brought on by impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic with sales only 11% lower on the year.
