Omani researchers produce biodiesel from date seeds

In Oman, the Times of Oman newspaper reports that researchers from Sultan Qaboos University have successfully produced biodiesel and glycerol from date seeds. From the press cake a substance was derived a possible alternative substance to plastics. The research follows up from work the team published in 2018 from a pilot study funded by Petroleum Development Oman. The original lab work produced just 100 ml of biodiesel from 10-15kg of waste seeds but was the foundation for further work.
