Ethanol crush margins strengthen on higher prices and cheaper corn

July 28, 2020 |

In Illinois, Platts reports rising ethanol prices and lower corn prices helped to push up ethanol crush margins over the past week to 13.58 cents per gallon, up 6.51 cents on the week. On Monday, Platts said Chicago Argo ethanol was at $1.2965/gal, up 5.35 cents on the week. Ethanol production fell the week before last for the first time in 12 weeks which helped to support ethanol prices. Platts says it expects ethanol production to have averaged 954,000 barrels per day last week.
