WNY Energy gets 10-year hydropower deal in exchange for $17.5M investment

In New York state, local press reports that in order to facilitate a $17.5 million expansion including 10 new jobs, the New York Power Authority has granted Medina-based WNY Energy access to cheap hydropower. The allotment will provide the ethanol producer with 700 kilowatts of power for the next 10 years. The investment plan is expected to include a facility expansion that should be completed next year. The company recently shifted its production to include 150,000 gallons per day of technical grade ethanol for hand sanitizers.
