Argentina’s grain industry shaken by COVID-19 outbreaks

July 30, 2020 |

In Argentina, Mercopress reports growing concern about impacts of COVID-19 on workers at different grain terminals and processing plants in key ports that could risk timely exports of soy products including biodiesel. Cofco reported 12 cases at its oilseed crushing plant north of Rosario, forcing the facility to temporarily shut, while Bunge also shut down its nearby plant after a single confirmed case. The companies hope that by cracking down on the disease early that shifting flows through other facilities in the short-term will reduce potential impacts on clients.
