Crush margins tighten as Chicago Argo ethanol prices slide

August 4, 2020 |

In Illinois, Platts reports its crush margin calculations show a sharp drop in ethanol prices that outweighed a fall in corn futures narrowed the crush margin by 8.49 cents over the past week to 5.81 cents per gallon. Platts says Chicago Argo ethanol prices fell to $1.1920/gal, 10.45 cents lower on the week in response to a significant jump in ethanol production the week prior, but it believes the next round of Energy Information Administration data will show a slight drop in production last week.
