EPA administrator not sure when or if “gap” SREs will be awarded

August 12, 2020 |

In Washington, Brownfield Ag News reports that the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency says he isn’t sure if or when “gap” SREs will be awarded because the issues surrounding the applications are complicated. He said he has questions about whether a company can be in existence today but claim economic harm back in 2012, or how today’s RINs can be applied for compliance seven or eight years earlier. He also said there are questions about the proposed 2021 RVO that was sent to the OMB for review because the calculations were made before the impact of COVID-19 which has hit both the refining and ethanol industries.
