Court of International Trade tells Commerce to look again at 2017 Indonesian biodiesel duties

August 13, 2020 |

In Washington, Bloomberg reports the U.S. Court of International Trade has ruled the Department of Commerce must revisit a 2017 decision to add countervailing measures to Indonesian biodiesel imports. Commerce’s original decision was based on an export tax policy system that led to duties of between 34.45% and 64.73%, depending on the producer. However, the court has questioned the need for duties to compensate for the export tax and that the duties may need to be revised lower.
