Brazil’s ANP cuts biodiesel blend to 10% on supply fears

August 17, 2020 |

In Brazil, Platts reports the national oil and biofuels agency ANP has temporarily cut the biodiesel blending mandate to 10% for September and October due to concerns about sufficient supplies in light of increased diesel demand. Biodiesel producers slowed down production in March and April in response to falling diesel demand in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic but even so they say they have sufficient supplies to meet the 12% mandate. June saw biodiesel production ramp back up but some key producing regions have seen an increase in COVID-19 cases, adding further concerns about the capacity to produce sufficient fuel.
