In South Korea, Korea Bizwire reports the country’s top shipper HMM has signed an MOU with Korea Bio Energy Association, Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., and the Korean Register of Shipping to the use of bio heavy oil in shipping. The company, like many others in the industry, are seeking to comply with the International Marine Organization’s 2030 carbon emissions reduction mandate and see heavy bio oil made from biodiesel residues, plant and animal oils as a solution.
